About this site
Purpose of this site
The Canadian Citizenship Calculator is a free, independent tool that counts whether you meet the physical-presence requirement to apply for Canadian citizenship — 1,095 days within the five years before you apply.
The day count is harder than it looks, because time spent in Canada before becoming a permanent resident counts as a half-day (up to a maximum of 365 days). This tool handles that half-day credit and the five-year window automatically, so you can see exactly where you stand.
How it works
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. It applies the rules of the Citizenship Act — 1,095 days of physical presence, the half-day credit for eligible pre-PR days capped at 365, and the rolling five-year reference period. We update the logic if the rules change.
Independent and neutral
This is an independently operated site that builds simple tools to remove the friction from complex immigration rules. We are not affiliated with IRCC or any government agency, and the calculator does not collect or store your dates — everything is processed locally in your browser.
